2006 Season One

The Ward Studio Company was established in 2005 as a vehicle for studio graduates to create original theater through an improvisational ensemble process. In its first season, the Company presented I Wish You A Boat, which earned two nominations for Outstanding Acting from New York Innovative Theater Awards and secured the Company's reputation for the boldness and tenderness with which it performs, and its unique use of the intimate theater space it calls home.

2007 Challenge -- Going Global

This year's company includes actresses from Australia, Israel and The Netherlands, presenting a host of artistic and logistical challenges. When one of its members was denied a new Visa by the U.S. Consulate in Australia, the Company was forced to redesign the production. Yet, out of the creative problem-solving used to confront this challenge, one of the production's most interesting design concepts was born.

In this way, At The Hand of My Mother represents the best of what the Ward Studio strives for in its Performance Training program -- to bring together a unique ensemble of actors whose collective vision generates innovative solutions set within an emotionally compelling storytelling style.
